Citrus Healthcare Consulting is an independent medical insurance broker and we work with an unrestricted panel of medical insurance providers. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions from our clients.
Insurers will typically take into account your age, postcode, scheme benefits and your chosen excess amount. Some insurers offer discounts for being a non-smoker, having a healthy body mass index and even a discount based on your profession.
As an example, a 39 year old can expect to pay between £40 and £65 per month for a comprehensive medical plan.
Directly from an insurer
If you buy direct, you will be advised on that insurers products only and they cannot discuss how their cover compares to a competitor. They won’t give you independent advice or direct you to a more suitable insurer.
From an agent
Agents can sometimes provide more options than going directly to an insurer. However, they are typically tied to only a few insurance providers and may only offer inferior policies.
From a broker
A good broker will give you completely independent advice, ensuring you have the right cover and you do not pay more than you need to.
All the insurers we compare have great products with different levels of cover. Our job is to match you up with the best one for your personal circumstances to make sure you have the right cover at the best price.
In-Patient and day case treatment
In-Patient refers to treatment received in a hospital where an overnight stay is necessary. Day case treatment means a procedure takes place in a hospital, but does not require an overnight stay. This benefit typically includes cover for high costs scans such as MRI, PET and CT to ensure your outpatient benefit lasts longer each year.
Out-Patient
Out-Patient refers to treatment usually provided in the practice or surgery of a medical practitioner, therapist or specialist but can occasionally be in a hospital out-patient department. This will typically cover drugs, dressings, x-rays, pathology, diagnostics and procedures.
Additional cover
Most policies will either automatically include or you can add on cover such as therapy benefit, psychiatric benefit and extended cancer benefit.
This is due to various factors. One of the main reasons is that some insurers offer an initial “no claims discount”. Whilst you will enjoy lower premiums in the years which you do not claim, you could receive large premium increases when you do. There are insurers which offer policies, who will not penalise you should you need to make a claim.
No, the rates are the same or lower than going direct, so why not let us do the work for you?
No, we are paid by your insurance provider, which does not affect your premium.
Yes, we will find the best cover and insurance provider to suit your needs.
We have access to Allianz, Aviva, Axa, Bupa, Cigna, Freedom, Healthshield, Simplyhealth, The Exeter, Vitality, Westfield and WPA.
